I am a UX Designer with a background in Graphic Design and Fine Arts and a passion for intuitive design.
I apply visual design to my work, through my understanding of the concepts of visual communication, typography, colour theory, navigation, grid systems and all other elements of user interface.
I create meaningful wireframes, sketches and prototypes in order to show and describe the structural design and presentation of information while taking into account all previously defined expectations and functionalities.
Away from designing & building things, I make craft beer, knit and ride my bike whenever I can.
I currently work for Workopolis, the authoritative source for finding jobs in Canada.
I am taking on projects at the moment, so get in touch if you think we’d make wonderful things together.
I'm an experienced User Researcher. I use different methods to try to understand the user and the product: Competitive Analysis, Mental Models, Task Analysis, Card Sorting, Tree tests.
Throughout the design and development process I conduct usability tests on users and team members to validate the design to ensure we are on the right track and make iterative changes to the design.
Visually communicate abstract concepts with users and team members to generate feedback.
Get users involved early in the design process with quick and inexpensive paper prototypes. Uncover usability issues and validate design decisions based on actual user reactions.
Apply product branding, grid structure, typography, color scheme, and icons. Quickly develop interactive prototypes with tools like UXPin or Axure. This lets the team easily distribute and observe exactly how well the product will be received before the product gets built.
As a user advocate, I try to write clear concise requirements. I am comfortable working with Agile teams and apply a lean UX philosophy to my methods.
In addition to studio classes, I took courses and seminars that fostered an understanding of art history and visual culture.
While at Sheridan I explored both traditional and digital media. I also developed a visual philosophy to go along with my technical mastery. It was a broad-based approach that enabled me to apply what I learned across a wide range of career paths, which ultimately lead to me to a career in UX.
